Summary Edit

South's first interstate match for points since the end of the National Soccer League saw it travel up to Canberra to take on the Australian Institute of Sport. About 50 fans also made the trip, only to be treated to a tight match with few chances for either side. Worse, because the start of the game had been delayed by 20 minutes - referee Lewis Giuseffi had demanded that pegs for the goal nets be installed - the game was reduced to 40 minute halves in order for the visitors to be able to make their flight home.
