In 2006, Trent Waterson was merely the player who had scored the winning goal for Sunshine George Cross against South Melbourne at Chaplin Reserve. By 2007 he was a South recruit with high expectations. A midfielder, Waterson impressed enough in his first season that he was viewed as a required player, but instead he signed with Oakleigh Cannons[1]. After two seasons there Waterson returned to George Cross in 2010, only for him to be signed by South again for the 2011 season, where he played 22 games spread across the league[2], Mirabella Cup[3] and Singapore Cup[4]. At the end of the 2011 season, Waterson returned for a third time to George Cross, having never scored a goal for South across his 44 appearances.
