Ramazan 'Rama' Tavsancioglu was a promiment South Melbourne player during the club's first years in the Victorian Premier League following the end of the National Soccer League. A member of the 2006 championship team, Tavsancioglu spent six seasons with South Melbourne, playing primarily in the right full back position. Tavsancioglu was a resilient player, playing 20 or more matches every year that he was at South. In 2009, the club's 50th anniversary year, he was made captain. On the eve of the 2011 season, a falling out with coach Eddie Krncevic saw Tavsancioglu leave the club, joining Oakleigh Cannons.

In 2006, Tavsancioglu played at Melbourne Victory as an injury replacement player. In 2008, Rama's brother Adem Tavsancioglu also played with South Melbourne. In 2010, following the end of South's Singapore Cup campaign, and up until early 2011, Tavsancioglu played as an injury replacement player for North Queensland Fury.
