Rale Rasic, best known for being coach of the Socceroos when they qualified for the 1974 World Cup, was coach of South Melbourne Hellas for 13 matches[1] of the 1983 National Soccer League season[2] before being sacked and replaced by Len McKendry.[3]

Upon being sacked, Rasic claimed that he had been guaranteed the coaching job until the end of 1984.[4]
