Nick Jacobs was a young forward who played most of his senior soccer at South during the 2011 season[1][2], but whose most memorable moment came in his only league game in 2012[3]. Coming on a substitute away against Southern Stars, Jacobs bundled in a 94th minute goal to earn South a 3-2 win. A week later however Jacobs broke his leg in a school soccer match[4], and the prolonged and complicated layoff saw him miss the entire 2013 season; he retired on the eve of the 2014 season.

Jacobs' career post-soccer saw him become an American college football punter, playing for the University of Memphis Tigers, where he was part of the first Tigers team to win a league title since 1971[5].
