Before making his South Melbourne debut in 2006, Andrew 'Andy' Bourakis had been a youth a player at South Melbourne during the National Youth League, as well as spending time in Greece and Portugal.[1]. His South career mostly consisted of appearances made off the bench[2][3][4], opportunities which became increasingly rare. Bourakis' most notable, or rather infamous moment came during the 2007 mid-season friendly against Melbourne Victory, when he was struck by a flare thrown by a Victory fan[5]. In his final game for the club, Bourakis was red carded.[6]

After leaving South at the end of the end of 2008, in 2009 Bourakis played in a championship with Perth SC. From 2010 onwards Bourakis played for a variety of Victorian clubs, mostly in the lower leagues.
