Summary[]
The first match of a Dockerty Cup double header at John Cain Memorial Reserve[2][3] saw South field several fringe players after a bruising encounter against Richmond the week before. That, and a certain level of complacency from South were perhaps the primary cause of a scrappy first half. The second half was better, with Dimi Hatzimouratis opening the scoring with a rocket of a shot, but Malvern equalised via Juan Nilo with just 15 minutes to go. Kyle Joryeff however managed to spare some of South's blushes, tapping in a Joe Keenan cross to win the match.
